Medio and SurfKitchen Partner to Offer a Seamless Search Experience
Mobile World Congress, Barcelona –11 February 2008 - SurfKitchen and Medio announced today that they are joining forces to deliver the combined benefits of user choice and mobile search within a compelling user experience.
While users are consuming an increasingly wide range of data services on more capable networks and devices, the barriers to discover and use mobile internet services are still high. To solve the need for search and recommendation across the wealth of content available in a compelling user experience, SurfKitchen, the market leader in On-Device Portal (ODP) applications and Medio, the leader in mobile search and search advertising, are joining forces to demolish these final barriers. This will enable consumers to discover and use a broader range of services, as well as search for relevant online content within an integrated on-device experience.
Mobile search is a key service component of today’s ‘mobile-meets-Internet’ world. Leveraging data insights and recommendations technology, mobile search delivers concise and relevant information with minimal clicks. Integrating search in a compelling on-device experience will allow users to access the content of their choice, while providing new revenue streams through relevant and targeted advertising.
SurfKitchen’s partnership with Medio complements its strategy to provide a compelling, seamless mobile Internet experience that will allow users to enjoy a broader, more relevant and richer experience. SurfKitchen has announced the launch of SurfKit Phonetop, an integrated suite of on-device applications that offers extensive service choice for users and ‘zero click’ discovery.
“Mobile users are increasingly context driven,” said Michel Quazza, Chief Executive Officer of SurfKitchen, “and our partnership with Medio reflects this. Combining Medio’s search and recommendation expertise with SurfKitchen’s market leading capability in providing an exceptional user experience will give consumers the discoverability that they expect from the Internet in an industry-best mobile experience.”
“We’re delighted to be working with SurfKitchen to incorporate our mobile search solutions with their on-device portal offering,” said Brian Lent, CEO Medio Systems. “Search is the gateway to mobile content and the mobile internet and this partnership will enable us to achieve a common goal of delivering the best mobile consumer experience to drive increased consumer satisfaction and mobile Internet usage.”
